How technology brings people together

Patrick Eggenberger recieves Theodor Naegeli price 2019
Patrick Eggenberger completed his doctorate at ETH Zurich in 2018 with his dissertation "Interactive Cognitive-Motor Training in Older Adults - The Extra Boost for Cognitive Performance and Brain Function?" This will now be awarded the Theodor Naegeli Prize 2019. Congratulations!
SNF Spark for Aramesh Morteza and Xiao-Hua Qin
Spark is a new scheme for rapid funding of unconventional ideas. Launched in 2019, it has generated enormous interest. More than 700 projects were submitted by mostly young researchers with a doctoral degree.
Golden Owl for Cécile König
As in previous years, the Golden Owls were awarded at the ETH Day on 16 November 2019. The Golden Owl is awarded by the VSETH and honours lecturers who have provided exceptional teaching and motivates them to continue with their excellent teaching.
Synthetic phages with programmable specificity
ETH researchers are using synthetic biology to reprogram bacterial viruses – commonly known as bacteriophages – to expand their natural host range. This technology paves the way for the therapeutic use of standardized, synthetic bacteriophages to treat bacterial infections.
