As a leading international academic institution, collaborations are of vital importance to the Department of Health Sciences and Technology. The research projects of the individual professors of the department create the foundations for intensive research collaborations and broad networking both at a national and international level.
At the same time there are continued successful collaborations in the framework of existing centres of competence and strategic initiatives of ETH Zurich. Examples include the Neuroscience Center Zurich, the World Food System Center, the NCCR Neural Plasticity and Repair or "Medical Engineering of the Future". D-HEST works closely with various institutions of the ETH domain, the University of Zurich and University clinics.
Of particular importance are the approximately 70 existing bilateral projects with researchers from the Medical Faculty of the University of Zurich. D-HEST is also a supporting pillar of the university-based medical research in Zurich (Hochschulmedizin Zürich), founded by ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, and the University Hospital Zurich. This collaboration aims to strengthen cooperation in research and education. It promotes exchanges between researchers of fundamental medical sciences, clinical research, as well as medical treatments, with colleagues from the natural and engineering sciences.
