Structure of Studies

Tiered Studies

The Food Science programme offers tiered studies according to the model established by the Bologna Declaration of 1999.

Bachelor's Programme

The first level of studies encompasses the Bachelor's programme which provides fundamental knowledge in the natural sciences, social sciences, engineering and subject-specific sciences. The courses are mainly held in German. The Bachelor programme concludes with a Bachelor degree that qualifies for admission to the Master's programme.

Language: Courses in the bachelor's programme are mainly taught in German (some courses in English).

Master's Programme

The second level of study is the Master's programme, in which students consolidate their specialized knowledge of Food Science and Nutrition. An important part of the Master's programme is the Master's thesis. The Master level concludes after approximately three semesters with a Master's Degree which bestows professional qualifications.
