Majors
The following Majors are offered in the HST Master's study programme:
- Physiological, neural and biomechanical fundamentals of movement
- Adaptation of the human system through movement and load
- Function and trainability as well as adaptation of the human musculoskeletal system (muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones or cartilages) to age or disease
- Neural control and training methods in rehabilitation, old age and sport
- Effects of pollutants, infectious diseases and nutrition on human health.
- Effects of changing environmental conditions e.g. urbanization, migration, climate change and air pollution
- More information on "Human Health, Nutrition and Environment" (Master) are published on the website of the Department of Environmental Systems Science.
- Methods of biomedical engineering (e.g. image processing methods like MRI and PET, neurophysiology, medical robotics, etc.) and rehabilitation robotics
- Recording of the mechanical properties of biological tissue
- Technical and biological solutions for replacement of body structures (e.g. prostheses, cartilage replacement)
- Influence of genetics and environmental factors (pharmaceuticals, exercise, diet) on health and on the development of disease
- Understanding of molecular mechanisms of frequent and complex diseases (diabetes, cancer, adiposity, etc.)
- Influence of exercise, diet, age and disease on the cellular and molecular processes of energy homeostasis and of metabolism
- Development, anatomy, plasticity as well as disease of the nervous system
- Function of neuronal networks and processes as learning, emotions, dependence, behaviour etc. on animal models and humans
- Students obtain a broad conceptual and methodological training. They acquire competence to solve neuroscientific research questions through molecular, cellular as well as systemic approaches.
as of Autumn Semester 2023
This major deals with holistic rehabilitation with the aim of developing suitable solutions for everyday challenges. Relevant disciplines are on the one hand rehabilitation technology and data science, but on the other hand also the rehabilitation process and the health care system as well as social, environmental and economic aspects of inclusion.
