Prof. Dr. Katrien De Bock
Area of Interest
Angiogenesis and metabolism in the muscle microenvironm.
Prerequisites a student should comply with
ETH students from D-HEST or D-BIOL with an interest in understanding metabolic crosstalk between cells in the muscle microenvironment. This includes regulation of exercise-induced blood vessel growth, regulation of muscle growth during strength straining and muscle atrophy during inactivity or aging, role of fibroadipogenic progenitors in muscle physiology. Candidates are expected to have a strong interest in biochemistry and physiology and have basic laboratory experience. We are looking for highly motivated students that are willing to experience exciting science in a ‘moving’ environment.
