Strategy and Aims

The aim of the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST), as a leading international academic institution at the interface of health sciences and technology, is to create the foundations for sustaining and improving the quality of life for people into old age.

Maintaining good health and quality of life are significant challenges for our society and health system. The aging population or the increase in obesity and the related consequences for the health system are subjects which must be urgently addressed.

Prevention, the development of effective therapies and technological aids, as well as educating competent specialists all require a systemic and multidisciplinary approach in which all platforms – from molecules to cells and organisms right up to the environment and social framework are integrated.

Aims

The aims of the Department of Health Sciences and Technology are:

  • To create the foundations for sustaining and improving the quality of life for people into old age
  • To accelerate the transfer of knowledge and technology in clinics, industry and society
  • To educate a new generation of specialists and leaders at the interface of science and technology
