Michael Zimmermann appointed as Full Professor of Human Nutrition

05 December 2011 - Michael Zimmermann is currently Full Professor at Wageningen University, NL. He has been appointed as Full Professor of Human Nutrition and starts on 1 February 2012.
In particular, Michael Zimmermann’s research focuses on the health impact of micronutrient deficiencies and on strategies for overcoming such deficiencies. The appointment of this internationally renowned scientist, who also has considerable teaching experience, allows the Department of Health Sciences and Technology to reinforce its worldwide position in the key domain of human nutrition, and will broaden its contribution to the solution of current nutrition problems.

The ETH Board has appointed Marcy Zenobi-Wong as Assistant Professor

30 September 2011 - Marcy Zenobi-Wong, currently a senior scientist at the ETH Zurich, has been appointed as Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Cartilage Engineering and Regeneration. She has earned herself an excellent reputation at the ETH Zurich with the establishment of an interdisciplinary Master’s programme in Biomedical Engineering and further courses. Marcy Zenobi-Wong was appointed as professor by the ETH Board. In the new Department of Health Sciences and Technology, she will play a key part in tissue and cartilage technology and will develop methods for tissue regeneration.

Jess Snedeker appointed Associate Professor of Orthopedic Biomechanics

12 July 2011 - Jess Gerrit Snedeker (*1972), currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering was appointed as Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Biomechanics (double professorship with the University of Zurich). His research foci are in the field of modelling for the examination of the effect of accidents on the human body and of the biomechanical behaviour of connective tissue. These models have not only been awarded several international prizes but also make an important contribution towards the linkage between medicine and biomechanics.

Stephen Ferguson appointed Full Professor for Biomechanics

1 July 2011 - Stephen Ferguson starts on 1 July 2011 as Professor for Biomechanics at the Institute for Biomechanics. Previously he was working at the Medical Faculty at the University of Bern and was the Division Head of Biomechanics in the Institute for Surgical Technology and Biomechanics.
