University of Basel awards honorary doctorate to Prof. Robert Riener
At its Dies Academicus on 30 November 2018, the University of Basel awarded Prof. Robert Riener wirth the title Honorary Doctorate in the faculty of medicine.

Prof. Robert Riener, full Professor in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, is honored for his pioneering research and contribution in the area of movement and interaction with the environment for people with physical disabilities, based on robotic devices. Prof. Riener is also honored for the CYBATHLON, an event he devised and put into effect for the first time in 2016. CYBATHLON is a unique championship in which people with physical disabilities compete against each other to complete everyday tasks using state-of-the-art technical assistance systems.
